He was predeceased by : his wife Thelma Greene. He is survived by : his siblings, Ed (Martha) and Lily; his daughter Cherilyn (Putt); his grandchildren, Cherelle (Tu-Tu), Joshua James, Nehemiah and Solomon; and his great grandchild Givonni James. He is also survived by friends, neighbors.

Viewing was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the C. C. Carter Funeral Home (3700 Marshall Ave, Newport News, VA 23607). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Hampton Memorial Gardens Cemetery (155 Butler Farm Rd, Hampton, VA 23666).
