He is survived by: his wife Gale Owenby (Silsby) of Newport News; his mother-in-law Dorothy Silsby (Harton) of Newport News; his daughters, Susan Lawrence (Glenn) of Ontario, Canada and Sherry St (Owenby); his daughter-in-law Brooke Owenby-Kennedy (Walter Kennedy) of Yorktown; his brothers, Jack Owenby (Brenda) of Tennessee, Eddie Owenby (Nancy) of Georgia and George Owenby (Janice) of Tennessee; and his siblings-in-law, Steve Silsby (Faye) of North Carolina, Sherri Mertz (Silsby) of California, Lou Owenby (McCeldrey) of Alabama and Ninajo Owenby (Tarver) of Georgia. He is also survived by his 7 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, 1 grandson-in-law, and 1 great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home (210 Harpersville Rd, Newport News, VA 23601). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Maranatha Baptist Church (221 Hampton Hwy, Yorktown, VA 23693).
