She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Barnett Gartrell and Bessie Gartrell; her family Rose; her children, Avis Lilavois (Gus), Claude Vann (Sonya) and Doris Ford (Enrique); her grandchildren, Leah Rose Jones (Jason), Claude Vann IV and Ual Bradley III; her great grandchildren, Ezequiel Henriquez-Bradley, Christian Jones, Adriyel Vann, Miranda Jones, Naomi Bradley, Mattie Vann and Elijah Henriquez-Bradley; and her brother Fred Gartrell (Margaret). She was also cherished by friends, neighbors.
Viewing was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel (1601 27th St, Newport News, VA 23607). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church East End (3000 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23607).
