He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Hart Burney and James Horace Burney of Norfolk; his father-in-law Major J. Whitaker of Hampton; and his godson Nicholas Bond of Silver Spring, Maryland.. He is survived by: his siblings, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Incorporated; his wife Tracy Whitaker Burney; his siblings, Stephanie Burney Skyles (Larry) and Richard Burney (Laureen); his mother-in-law Louise Whitaker; his siblings-in-law, Nathaniel (Shirley) and Vanessa Whitaker; and his siblings' children, Traci Georges (Alvin), Tifney Skyles, Richelle Burney, Richard Burney Jr., William Scott Terrell and Joshua Whitaker.
