He was predeceased by: his parents, Alma Stanley and Wiley J. Merritt, Sr.; and his brother Wiley J. Merritt, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Loretta "Lolly" Merritt; his brother Chester Merritt (Jane); his children, Linda McCubbins (Ronnie), Leonard M. Merritt, Jr. and Laura Walkup (Greg); his grandchildren, Ashley McMurtry (John), Joseph McCubbins and Keelan Walkup (Kelly); and his great grandchildren, Cora and Ella McMurtry.
