She was predeceased by: her parents, William Mercer and Susie Sivels Mercer; and her siblings, John, James, William Mercer, Dorothy Boyd, Martha Edwards and Edna Jordan.
She is survived by: her son Michael Polite, Sr. (Sheila); her grandson Michael Polite, Jr.; her great grandchild Aniyah Polite; and her godchildren, Willye Dawkins-Baker (Marvin), Sallie Williams and David R. Foreman. She is also survived by her son and other relatives.
