He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Akers and Elverta Akers. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy H. Albert; his children, Angela Schoonover (Dewayne) of Troutville, Jerry Akers (Susie) of Roanoke, Paula Kizer (Tony) of Roanoke and Joey Akers (Hilary) of Roanoke; his stepson Larry Albert (Nancy) of Parrott; his siblings, James "Butch" Akers (Sue), Allen Akers (Karen) and Sharon McGuire (Mike); and his close friends, Wayne Johnson, Scottie Smith and Many. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
