She was predeceased by : her mother Maggie Herring; and her siblings, Lynwood Herring, Ernest Herring, Dallas Herring and Eunice Shifflett.

She is survived by : her husband Larry E. Garber; her children, Lynda McMillen (Bob) of Belmont Estates, Gregory Garber (Michelle) of Pleasant Valley and Todd Garber (Baker) of Bridgewater; her grandchildren, Madison McMillen of Bridgewater, Taylor Garber of Pleasant Valley, Waring Garber and Peyton Garber of Bridgewater; her siblings, Helen Bryant of Salem, Margie Miller (Bob) of Pleasant Valley, Beverley Sandy of Mt and Nelson Herring (Marie) of Harrisonburg; her siblings-in-law, Ronnie Garber (Liz), Dick Garber (Pat) and Sandra Heatwole; her friend Linda Moore; and also Justin Layman of Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church c/o - P.O. Box 370, Pleasant Valley, VA 22848, where Jane was a faithful member and treasurer of the United Methodist Women for 40 years; or to the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, 185 Ashby Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22802, where she was an active member and worked tirelessly for the kids clothing drive for underprivileged children.
