He is survived by: his wife Peggy Hutchins; and his children, Nelson L Hutchins III (Connie), Dr. Gregory Hutchins (Lauren), Denise Hutchins, Kathy Tarr (David), Kim Buchanan, Cheryl Wallace (Kevin), Donna Johnson (Don) and Carl Buchanan (Marie). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
