He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Barnes and Alma Jenkins Barnes; his wife Sarah Chaney Barnes; his sons, Billy Edward Barnes, Jr., Kenny Barnes and Shannon Barnes; his sisters, Betty Watkins, Nancy Coleman, Alma "Blue" DeVoe and Lelar Hollandsworth; his stepsister Louise Jenkins; his brothers, Franklin Barnes, Bobby Barnes and Homer Barnes; and his stepbrothers, Elwood and Virgil Barnes.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Soqui (Thomas) and John Andrew Barnes (Nancy); his stepsons, Clay and Clint Smith; and his sister Patsy Cox. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
