It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vernice Virginia Drew-Penn of Roanoke, Virginia, born in Bedford, Virginia, who passed away on March 8, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Jimmy Penn; her son Curtis Leon Drew; her granddaughter Erica Holland Smith; her great grandchild Evan Joseph; her parents, Alonzo Drew and Lalar Drew; and her siblings, Ruby Estes, Viola Brown, Hazal Pegs, Bobby Ray Drew, Matthew Drew, William Drew, Clarence Drew, Odell Drew and Albert "AJ" Drew.
She is survived by: her children, Sheila Anderson (John) of Roanoke, Virginia, Monique Anderson (Michael) of Roanoke, Virginia, Michael Holland of Roanoke, Virginia and Tony Holland of Roanoke, Virginia; her grandchildren, Tenika Haley, Gene Haley, Jr. (Elizabeth), Derick Anderson, Lori Anderson, Jessica Holland, Shaneil Whorley, Michael Whorley (Latorya), Adrion Whorley, Devan Gravely, Drew Johnson (Iniyah), Cameron Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Michael Anderson (Simone) and Evan Anderson; her brothers, Curtis Drew (Carolyn) of Upper Marlboro, Thomas Drew (Jean) of Fort Washington and Louis Drew of Roanoke, Virginia; and her siblings-in-law, Josephine Drew of Fort Washington, Jackie Beale of Roanoke, Virginia, Shirley Akers of Roanoke, Virginia, Gaynelle Akerson of Roanoke, Virginia and Tommie Holland of Roanoke, Virginia. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
