He is survived by: his children, Walter T. Elam, Jr., Alonzo Elam (Arnetta), Dennis Elam and Karen; his siblings, Doris Elam Coates and James Elam (Mildred) of Newport; his goddaughters, Cynthia Terry, Robin Turner, Terri Green, Sandra Hughes and Judith Smith; and his friends, Arthur Waddy, Wanda Waddy, Norris Kasey, Wanda Kasey, Genora Green and Pink Winbush. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
