He was predeceased by : his wife Barbara Brown of Arizona; his parents, Homer M. Pies and Hannah H. Pies; his daughter Leona; his brother Harvey; and his niece Darla Pies.

He is survived by : his daughter Patricia of Wake; and his siblings, Howard of San Diego, California, Joan of Columbia Heights, MN and Delores McKeever (Lorie) of Fergus Falls, MN. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
