He was predeceased by: his parents, Grant Dean and Tempie Bell Stapleton Dean; and his siblings, Callie Wilson, Myrtle Cauley, Beatrice Ryder, Ida Slayers, Norvel "Doc" Dean, Troy "Shorty" Dean, Roy "Dizzy" Dean and Carson "Sarge" Dean.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Ann Smith Dean; his children, Randy Smith of Selma and Angela McGrew (David) of Jackson, Mississippi; his grandsons, Tristan McGrew of Jackson and Alan Smith of Selma; and his siblings, Marvin "John" Dean of Obetz, Ohio and Gracie Liptrap of Newport News, Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
