He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles A. McKinney and Estelle H. McKinney. He is survived by : his wife Angela Jones McKinney; his children, Cole McKinney of South Boston, Burke McKinney (Tera) of Charlotte, NC and TeLisa McKinney of South Boston; his grandchildren, Kaylin and Blake McKinney; and his brother-in-law Anthony Jones of South Boston.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home (115 Main St, South Boston, VA 24592). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Grace Baptist Church (1058 Buckshoal Rd, Virgilina, VA 24598). A burial was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery (1058 Buckshoal Rd, Virgilina, VA 24598).
