Harold Stanley Chamberlain Jr. Obituary

Harold S. Chamberlain, Jr., 61 of Stafford County, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Harold was born in Bethesda, Maryland on October 19, 1963, to Harold S. (deceased) and Betty Ann Chamberlain of Haymarket, Virginia. Better known as Jason to all of his family, friends and co-workers, he learned early in life to be hard working and courageous. A friend to everyone he met, Jason was always there to lend a hand, whether to mend a fence, cut a tree down, or to fix a child's bike. He tragically lost his life to helping others.

During his young years, Jason volunteered for the local fire department, Greenville farm and at the Evergreen country club stables. He also enjoyed country music, gardening with his mom, riding and caring for horses, watching football, especially the Redskins (The Hogs), cruising Town of Manassas in a big blue pickup truck, working on vehicles with his dad, square dancing, hunting and fishing as well as attending NASCAR races. Smokey and the Bandit, Batman, Jeff Foxworthy, Reba and Martina McBride were a few favorites. After graduation from Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, he was employed with United Van Lines and the US Army Reserves in 1983. During Jason's service he was awarded many military skill awards and had completed the heavy- duty mechanics certifications which later assisted him in his career. On weekend days, Jason would search out places to race his jeep "Bits and Pieces.". He would participate in county fairs or mud bogging events, where he and his jeep would often win awards.

Jason survived by his mother, Betty Ann Chamberlain, his wife of 17 years, Wanda Faye Garner and her daughter, Kristen Leigh Carrino; Wanda's two brothers Gary and Donnie, his two children from an earlier marriage, Jennifer Lynne (spouse Matthew Fletcher) and Joshua Paul Chamberlain (spouse Toni Cantillon) and five grandchildren, Rylee, Jackson, Bree, Phoebe and Mickey Fletcher; sisters, Donna (spouse Steve Lilly) and Fawn (spouse Robert Kemp); brothers Thomas, Galen (wife Patty); nieces, Amanda, Daytona, Haley, Miranda, Violet; nephews Christopher and Michael, plus many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jason was a romantic and he proposed to Wanda on a beautiful sunny day while they were hiking the Shanandoah National Park. They soon married in Manassas on November 7, 2008. Kristen and Jason became very close and often enjoyed assembling a puzzle together. Stafford was the town where they decided to buy their first home. Quickly they made great friends with their neighbors and enjoyed many pool days and outdoor cookouts. Jason always had a project in the works. He was not the sit still kind of guy. Recently, he and Joshua completed the renovation of a bathroom together and were discussing their future projects.

Jason had a soft spot for animals especially for dogs; Jake, Chloe Rose and Daisy May were cherished and his true companions. Jason enjoyed sharing stories and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He was friendly, funny, welcoming, sharp, adventurous and confident. He always had a funny way of entertaining you with a new joke, a far-out story or maybe one of his adventures. It was not a surprise to hear Jason on the local radio stations sharing his humor. He had a warm and friendly smile, pretty blue eyes and often wore boots and cowboy hat. At times, he even had his own "Garth Brooks" fashion. He truly believed and lived his life like the song, 40-hour week by Alabama. He was a dedicated worker, he covered thousands of miles across America and met so many people along the way while employed by United Van Lines, Hamilton Iron Works and Joe Moholland Moving. Crazy Horse was his call name on the road. Jason liked to be a leader and to teach you something new. Most importantly he always made sure to teach about the challenges of the job, to include life lessons and standing strong, doing what is right for all around.

If you spent any time with Jason, you knew he treasured his grandchildren, he bragged at length about them. He would try to attend many of their academic, spiritual, sporting and family events. He was very proud of his children and never hesitated to tell them so. He also continued a good friendship with his former spouse, Barbara and her husband William McCormick, and their other children, Joseph, Brooke and Lyndsi.

Jason will be deeply missed and remembered by all of us. Roll on Jason, Roll on Dad.

The Broken Chain By Ron Tranmer We little knew the day that, God was going to call your name, In life we loved you dearly, In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone.

For part of us went with you, The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.

Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you, You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

Remembrances of Jason, can be made to his favorite charity: Leashes of Valor or Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Everyone who knew Jason Chamberlain has a favorite story. If you feel so inclined, please send yours to [email protected] – the family will greatly enjoy and appreciate.
