He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd D. Heizer and Estelle Heizer (Glover); and his brothers, Robert, James and Lynn Heizer.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Thornton Heizer; his children, Samuel Lee Heizer, Jr. (Dale) of Middlebrook, David Heizer (Ronda) of Middlebrook and Carol Wojciechowski (Chris) of Middlebrook; his grandchildren, Derek Heizer (Brittany), Lindsey Heizer of Middlebrook, Jacob Heizer (Samantha) of Middlebrook, Joshua Heizer (Taylor) of Lynchburg and Mekayla Burgdorf (Tabor) of Staunton; his great grandchildren, Barrett Heizer, Parker Heizer of Middlebrook and Johanna Heizer of Lynchburg; and his brother Joe C. Heizer (Shirley) of Middlebrook. He is also survived by his wife of sixty years, surviving family members.
