He was predeceased by: his wife Geraldine Paton Bowman; and his siblings, Linda Bowman, Kenneth Bowman and Donald Bowman. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Rook Bowman; his children, Arlene (Russel Daniel), Virginia "Ginny" (Ron Clark), Sharon (Tommy Bowman), Lisa Hooker (Gilmer Lawson), David (Vicki Bowman) and Mark (Rita Bowman); his stepsons, Charles Rook and Barry Rook (Dawn); and his siblings-in-law, Diona, Carlos Goad, Wynette, Pal Laws, Elizabeth "Betty" Bowman and Reavis.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt Airy NC 27030.
