He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Simmons and Cassie Shelton Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Louise Atkins Simmons of Stuart, Virginia; his daughters, Brenda S. Dunn of Martinsville and Rita S. Morris (Steve) of Ridgeway, Virginia; his grandchildren, Tami Dunn Martin, Carey Dunn Ballard, Bradley Morris and Jason Morris; his brother Samuel Linward Simmons (Carolyn) of Critz, Virginia; and his sister-in-law Betty Lou Simmons Clark of Stuart, Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
