She was predeceased by: her parents, Noah Short and Rosa Short of Garden Creek, Virginia.; her husband James Floyd Houchins; her son Donald James Houchins; her children-in-law, Anita Houchins (DD) and Jerry Yocum; and her siblings, Terry Short, Cecil Short, Orville Short, Ellis Short, Arthur Short, Cora Stacey, Dora Childress, Shirley Meadows and Lola Short.
She is survived by: her children, Trula Yocum, Ronnie Houchins (Debbie), David Houchins, Brenda Stanton (David), Roger Houchins (Deborah), Stephen Houchins (Carmen) and Martha DeBord (Mark). She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Honaker Funeral Home (4686 Redbud Hwy, Honaker, VA 24260). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
