He was predeceased by : his parents, Lonnie Andrew and Irma McNeal Moomaw; his wife Virginia Joan Frere; his siblings, John Allen Moomaw and June Fahrney; and his son-in-law Richard Holoka.

He is survived by : his children, L. R. Moomaw, Jr. (Lois) of Broadway and Sharon Moomaw Holoka of Phoenixville, PA; his grandchildren, Scott W. Wenger (Terri), Heather A. Holoka, David A. Holoka (Lauren) and Trey Moomaw (Breidi); and his siblings, Donnie Moomaw of Timberville and Donna Cyzick of Hinton. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, four step great great grandchildren.
