He was predeceased by: his parent Alfred C. Ewers, Sr. of Lynchburg; his daughter Brenda Sue Ewers; and his sister Betty Lou Vaughan. He is survived by: his parent Thelma Garber Lorentz of Lynchburg; and his wife Ruth Ewers. He is also survived by six children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
