He is survived by: his parents, Calvin Avant and Joan A. Eberwine (George); his son Joshua W. Avant; and his sisters, Valerie L. Avant and Vicki A. Newman (Steve). He is also survived by 3 nephews, 1 niece, and 2 great nieces.
