Darlene Disalvo Detki, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 63. Born on January 23, 1962, just outside of Cleveland, Ohio, Darlene was a vibrant soul whose life was marked by her dedication to helping others and her unyielding competitive spirit.
Darlene was a devoted social worker who earned her Master's Degree and dedicated her career to serving others.. Her work was more than a profession; it was a calling. She found immense fulfillment in assisting those in need, believing deeply in the importance of her contributions to the world.
Beyond her professional life, Darlene was an avid lover of athletic activities, enjoying hiking, swimming, and a variety of sports. Never one to shy away from competition, she brought her competitive nature into every aspect of life, including games with her beloved children. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her love for animals, particularly monkeys and dolphins, and she cherished her furry companions, Theodore and Togo.
Darlene was spiritual and held a personal belief in reincarnation, reflecting her open-minded and thoughtful nature. Her favorite color was blue, a fitting choice for someone who embodied tranquility and depth.
Darlene was a devoted and loving mother to her three daughters, Alexis, Alli, and Ash, and a cherished grandmother. She is also survived by her four sisters, Dawn, Denise, Diane, and Dori, as well as a host of dear friends and extended family who will miss her dearly. Darlene leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fierce determination.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will take place. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Home and Cremations, Southside Chapel, located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
