She was predeceased by: her parents, Tommie E. King and Ethel Luster King; her husband Hiawatha Johnson, Sr.; her sons, Hiawatha Johnson Jr. and Reginald Wendell Johnson; and her siblings, Tommy L. King and Ethel Irene King Byrd.

She is survived by: her grandsons, Dwayne W. Johnson (Erika) and Kevin T. Johnson; her great grandchild Erik Allen Johnson; her daughter-in-law Shirlrona Johnson; and her brothers, Frank King (Lummie), James Leon King (Ruth) and Calvin King Sr. (Dorothy).
