He was predeceased by : his parents, Bruce Owens and Rutha Owens; and his wife Mary Owens. He is survived by : his daughter Patsy Jessee; his grandchildren, Christopher Stacey Cox (Kiwanna Cox) and Alishia Dinkins; his sister-in-law Nell Fields; and his close friends, Ed Reed and Harlen Peters.
