He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Monnie Edna Gillenwater and Lane; his grandson Ethan Hammonds; his siblings, Edward (Iris), Virgil, Charles, Bobbie Jean Gillenwater, Mary Ann Gray, Robert and Rosa Mae; his wife Susan Gillenwater (Nell); his children, Starr Burke (Richard) and Roberta Hammonds (Dwayne); his grandchildren, Matthew Burke (Brea), Daniel Burke (Hope) and Devin Hammonds; his siblings, Tommy Ray (Jan), Gerald (Deliliah), Shirley Butler (Coy) and Juanita Pierson; his siblings-in-law, Maria Gillenwater, Gladys Begley, Peggy May and Gary Necessary; and his close friend Curtis Minton. He was also cherished by 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
