He was predeceased by : his parents, Thomas Lee and Mildred Austin Lee; and his wife Margaret Yerby Lee. He is survived by : his children, Paulette Bailey Turpin and Kendall Bailey (Terry); his sister Frankie Grubb; and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Jared, Kendra, Amy and Lisa. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Barnett Funeral Home (325 Church St, Wytheville, VA 24382). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wytheville Training School and Cultural Center in memory of James "Slick" Amos Lee.
