He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Jerry, Sr. and Catherine Hanley Sheffey; and his sisters, Cathy Travis and Nancy Hash. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Kay Davis Sheffey; his children, Joseph Jerry "J. J." Sheffey, III and Samara Sheffey; his granddaughter Kylie Sheffey of Wytheville; his brothers, Rick Sheffey of Wytheville and Chris Sheffey of Roanoke; his brothers-in-law, John Davis and Sharone Davis; and his close friend George "Sweetie" Crockett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
