He was predeceased by: his parents, Argle Garland and Virginia Garland; his daughter Lisa Garland; his siblings, Joe Garland and Glenna McFarland; and his niece Jessica Jones.
He is survived by: his daughter Christy Melamed; his sisters, Patricia Gail Tate and Beckie Garland Friend (Oakley); and his grandchildren, Michael Garland, Ethan Melamed, Lindsey Leonard, Savannah Leonard and Liahn Melamed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Barnett Funeral Home (325 Church St, Wytheville, VA 24382). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
Although flowers will be appreciated, the family suggests memorial donations be given to a disabled veteran's organization.
