He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Roorda and Emma Roorda (Visser); his sons, Richard and Stephen; and his brother Sydney.

He is survived by: his wife Edwina Leahey; his children, John David Roorda (Cindy), Karen Ortiz (Anthony), Tammy Patton (Mark), Timothy Roorda and Thomas Roorda; and his siblings, Agnes Culver, Frederick Roorda (Lora), Sylvia Roorda and Joyce Roorda. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
