He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Burton and Ruth Burton (Anderson); and his brother Weslie Burton. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Burton; his children, Daniel Burton of Maine and Melissa Burgess of Bath, ME; his grandchildren, Matthew Burton, Danielle Burton, Brian Burgess, Caleb Burgess, Oliver Timko, Audrey Timko, Avery Timko and Sebastian McGarry; his great grandchildren, Kovlyne and Holden Burton; his stepchildren, Justin Timko, Sunita Timko and Samantha McGarry; and his sisters, Joyce Shepard of Lunenburg, VT and Shirley Westney of South Pasadena, FL..

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Weathersfield Center Church (79 Center Church Rd, Perkinsville, VT 05151).
