He was predeceased by: his parents, Corbett Nielsen and Marcia Nielsen; his stepmother Meri Nielsen; and his sisters, Jenne Fitzgerald and Julie Michaud.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Hedding; his son Alex Sandul; his brother Cris Nielsen; and his stepsiblings, Lynn Wilkinson and Mike Wilkinson.
