He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Lorne Tyler Dunning Sr. and Marguerite "Mar" Linder Dunning; his father-in-law Paul Nelson; his wife Jeanne; his children, Jeffrey Lorne Dunning, Paula Mays (Don), Teresa Buchanan (Jack), Maureen Grant (Gary McCullough) and Melinda Dunning (Allan Charlton); his siblings, Paul Dunning, Mike Dunning and Mary Jane Bryant; his daughter Kathleen Anne "Katie" Hobbs; his sister Marguerite "Peg" Sanders; and also, Gil and Lily Pope. He was also cherished by 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Bud's honor are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
