He was predeceased by : his siblings, Virginia and Cecil. He is survived by : his wife Shirley Ann Zuppe; his children, Debra Lynn Kay (John) of Des Moines, David Byron Bowen (Lisa) of Ellensburg and Tram Christopher Bowen (Stacey) of Graham, Washington; his grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Shayna and Shonn; his great grandchildren, Adeline and Riley; and his siblings, William Bappe-Bowen (Jackie) of Auburn and Dorothy Shaffer (Bowen) of Seattle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
