She was predeceased by: her husband Jose A. Banez; her parents, Guillerma Arreola and Dionisio Umipig; and her siblings, Gerardo, Florencia, Jovencia, Marcelino (Seattle), George (Seattle) and Francisco (Hawaii).
She is survived by: her children, Lila Marie (Gary Chin), Evelyn (Anthony Jackson) and Joselito Banez (Dana); her grandchildren, Melissa Chin (Byron Lillie) and Joshua Chin; her children, Mikhail, Daynon, Jared, Rachel Jackson, Emily and Nicholas Banez; and her great grandchildren, Calvin and Connor Lillie. She is also survived by the Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She made multiple trips to Washington DC with her students as part of the Close up Foundation.
