She was predeceased by : her parents, Hendrik Roeters and Siebregje Roeters (Tolsma); her husband Jim VanEss; her daughter Frieda Kooiker; her children-in-law, Sharron VanEss and George Geertsma; and her grandsons, Jimmy and Scotty Kooiker.

She is survived by : her former life partner Jentje VanEss (Jim); her son-in-law Henry Miedema; her children, Dan, Pearl Geertsma, Sylvia Miedema (Henry), Geri Smeenk (Meese), Henry (Shannon), Marie Boersema (Dale) and Harv (Lisa); and her son-in-law Harlyn Kooiker. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
