She was predeceased by: her parents, Eldon Summers and Clella May Summers; and her brothers, Glenn and Kent. She is survived by: her husband Jay; and her brothers, Garry Summers (Roseanne) and Cary Summers (Joyce). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

She was elected to the Board of Directors of the Artists Guild, serving as Secretary during the COVID pandemic.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in Penny's name are suggested.
