He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandson Anthony "Tony" Meissner; his wife Reidun; and his sons, Stephen (Leah), Richard (Jeni), Dan (Mary Louise) and Timothy. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
