He was predeceased by : his daughter Jane; and his daughter-in-law Janet. He is survived by : his wife Joan Chisholm; his son John; his granddaughters, Lauren and Mackenzie; his sister-in-law Janet Ruehl; his niece Kathleen Robinson; and his nephews, Kevin Ruehl and Scott Ruehl.
