With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Grietje Stansberry of Tacoma, Washington, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 2, 2025 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by: her parents, Crisstoffel Brandenburg and Grietje Brandenburg; and her close friend Aafje Hobbs. She is survived by: her children, Ella Warren, Apolonia Jackson, Emarentiana Averitt, Williemyntje Swift (Laney), Doris Jackson and Crisstoffel Jackson (Trina); her husband Leon Stansberry; and her grandchildren, Terry Jackson, Jamar Rhodes (Victoria), Talisha Hinton (Jaron), Kevin Strickland, Jr., Nicole Jackson, Anthony Averitt, Jr., Marcus Rhodes (Natalia Varela), Chezare Robertson (Charde), Ciara Wade, Keisha Jones (Darius), Crisstoffel Jackson Jr., Taetiana Morrison and Taevion Swift.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Creek Chapel (9221 Chambers Creek Rd W, Tacoma, WA 98467).
