He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Arthur Merten and Dorothy Merten; his brother Darrell E. Merten; his children, Christina N. Merten of Seattle and Zachary R. Merten; his daughter-in-law Erin Griffin; his sister-in-law Donna Merten of Littleton, Colorado; his nieces, Becky Horne (Rex) of Centennial and Judy McCarthy (Kevin) of Omaha, Nebraska; and his nephew Craig Merten (Tami) of Parker, Colorado.
