He was loved and cherished by many people including: his brother LeRoy Johnston; his former wife June Yasuda; his parents, Claude and Barbara; his brother Le Roy; his wife Debra; his children, Edward Johnston (Kime), Lynn Newell (Kevin), Jennifer Cook (Rob) and Jaime Ewing; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Stacey, Derek, Alyssa, Cameron, Ava, Olivia and John Thomas.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Apollo Club or Vets Serving Vets in Wenatchee.
