It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gretchen Janice Dokken-Hellie (Amery, Wisconsin), born in Benson, Minnesota, who passed away on November 30, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Garfield Dokken and Jonnette Dokken; and her granddaughter Madeline. She is survived by: her spouse Tilford Hellie; her sons, Christopher, Erik (Jennifer) and Chris (Michelle); and her grandchildren, Emily (Tyler), Bennett, Marty and Stuart.
Her upbringing in the Lutheran Church set a strong foundation which made her faith strong, brought her comfort, allowed her to share her gift of music in worship and choir, and kept her always active in a community of faith. Eventually, the heartbreaking disease of Alzheimer's and dementia started to take hold in Gretchen's life.
