He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schommer and Marcella Schommer (Helein); his brother Steve; and his sister-in-law Lisa Schommer. He is survived by: his wife Polly Van Rooy; his children, Mike Schommer (Katie) and Tara Schommer; his grandsons, Leo, Oliver and Miley; his pet Alley; his siblings, Sandra Russell (Larry), Daniel Schommer (Mary), Bonnie Dennee (Frank), Jacqueline Sturm (Dan), Kevin Schommer (Sue), Karla Dennee (Earl), Tom Schommer and Amy Schoettler (Greg); and his parents-in-law, Barb, Jim Thiel, Connie Walbrun, Suzie Wollersheim (Jerry), Pam Van Rooy, Debra, Randy Cook, Patrick, Kari Van Rooy, Mike, Debbie Van Rooy, Tony, Laura Van Rooy, Julie Schwechler, Larry and Patricia Van Rooy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Gary's name.
