He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Erhardt Maik and Sophie Maik (Knudtson); his spouse Elmira A. Tumm; his grandchildren, Adrian Maier (Kristin) of Black Earth, Britta Urness of Lansing and Mich; his great grandchild Taylor Maier (Kaitlin Ring); his siblings, Ray Maik (Phyllis) of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Delores Kuehn (Milton) of Fall Creek, Janice Kaeding (John) of Fall Creek and Wis; and his parents-in-law, Joyce Wathke, Lorraine, Eric Kromrey, Mary Tumm, Hazel Tumm and Vivian Tumm. He was also cherished by many nephews, nieces and godchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Vermont Lutheran Church Legacy Fund are encouraged.
