He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle Ward (Hudson) and Maurice Ward; his former wife Odessa Pettit; his son Gene Ward; his siblings, Lillian Rands and Robert Ward; and his grandson Lucas Ward.

He is survived by: his wife Marian Jones; his sons, Keith Ward (Sandra) and Tim Ward; his daughter-in-law Valerie Ward; his grandchildren, Tina Stimpson (Ed), Kevin Ward (Susan), Travis Ward (Melissa), Wendy Brody (Seth), Stacy Swatek (Eric), Amy Brewer (Gill), Christopher Ward (Elizabeth) and Jacob Ward (Anna); his niece Donna Blanchard; his great-nephews, Michael Jones (Vickie) and Kevin Jones (Debra); his great-niece Dawn Jones; and his close friends, Dave, Dottie Oakes, Dawn Marie Holmes and Rose Shuck. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren (with one on the way), one great-great grandson.
