He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron Paynter and Esther Paynter (Merriam); his wife Glenda Tagatz; his daughter Sharon Paynter-Cleaves; his sister Amy Page; and his brothers-in-law, Harvey Page and Stanley Howard.
He is survived by: his children, Nancy Olsen (Ron) of Oregon, WI, Craig Paynter of Renton, WA, Thomas Paynter (Tammy) and Mineral Point; his grandchildren, Alissa Brooks (Nate), Tim Olsen, Ryan Paynter (Candis), Cory Funk (Samantha VanScoy), Dylan Paynter (Rachael Meyer) and Caelyn Paynter; his sister Marion Howard of Darlington; and his son-in-law Andy Cleaves. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
