He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Kottka and Edna Kottka (Jungenberg); and his siblings, John "Jack" Kottka, Carol Smith and Darwin "Punky" Kottka (Cheryl).

He is survived by: his wife Betty Scherbert of Deforest; his son Gary of Deforest; and his siblings-in-law, Helen Kottka of Portage and Howard Smith of Oxford. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
