He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Melvin Lay and Louise M. Lay; and his brother Dirk Lay. He is survived by: his significant other Patsy Walters Sewald; his daughter Julie Steiner (Brian); his grandchildren, Andrew, Colton and Kathryn; and his siblings, Jerry Lay (Wanda), Linda Pfister (Jack), Debra Lay (Georgia Russell), Dennis Lay of Illinois and Sheila Lay (Vinny McGarry).
